Meet Diva, a 15.2 hand 2008 AQHA bay mare who lives up to her name in all the best ways. She’s the ultimate all-around partner, whether you’re heading to a local game day show, entering a barrel race, refining your breakaway roping, sorting cattle, hitting the trails, exploring jumping, or riding with a drill team. Diva is the kind of horse who can do a little bit of everything and look good doing it.
Don’t let her age fool you—this mare has plenty of energy and is always ready to work. She’s alert, athletic, and has more go than whoa in the arena, making her best suited for an experienced intermediate or advanced rider. That said, she’s safe and reliable, especially when cruising outside the arena, where she’s more laid back and relaxed.
Diva is easy to handle on the ground. She leads, ties, stands, picks up all four feet, bathes, and trailers with no issues. She goes barefoot and stays sound with no maintenance required, though she’s worn front shoes in the past for rocky terrain. She has no vices or bad habits, is clean-legged with no blemishes, and has straight, solid conformation.
Her care is up to date—she had her teeth floated in 2024 and has a current negative Coggins. Diva does well whether she’s stalled or turned out, and she gets along with other horses, typically sitting in the middle of the pecking order.
In addition to her performance and riding abilities, Diva has also been a successful broodmare. She’s foaled without any complications and has been a great mom. We’ve owned her for several years and know her inside and out. The only reason she’s available is that we’re downsizing our herd to focus on younger horses coming up and she’s far from being ready to retire!
Diva is located in Western North Carolina, just a short drive from Asheville Regional Airport. Pre-purchase exams and x-rays are welcome at the buyer’s expense (no overflexions, please).
